    • White Belt: student with no previous knowledge of Taekwon-Do.
    • Yellow Belt: earth, from which a plant sprouts and takes root, as Taekwon-Do foundation is being laid.
    • Green Belt: growth as the Taekwon-Do skills begin to develop.
    • Blue Belt: heaven toward which the plant matures
    • Red Belt: danger, cautioning the student to exercise care and control and warns opponents to stay away.
    • Black Belt: opposite of white; maturity and proficiency in Taekwon-Do
