1st Dan Requirements

Black Belt - 1st Dan

Basics and Stances

  • 4 kick combination chosen by candidate
  • Any hand technique in any stance chosen by panel
  • Any kick combination chosen by panel (must include jumping or flying kicks)
  • Any kick and hand combination chosen by panel

Pattern Requirements

  • Kwang-Gae (39 movements)
  • Po-eun (36 movements)
  • Ge-baek (44 movements)
  • At least 1 other pattern picked by judging panel (any previous patterns)

Sparring

  • One steps (both sides)
    • Explain one step
    • Demonstrate slow and fast
  • Sudden attacks
  • 1 on 1 (light contact)
  • 2 on 1 (light contact)

Knowledge

  • Oral Examination

    • Test questions will be asked by the Board of Test Examiner

  • Written Examination

    • Written examination will be administered by the Master of Ceremony

Self Defense

  • Unarmed opponent
  • Armed opponent

Board Breaking

  • Three Stations: One hand, one kick, one flying kick

Merit Points

  • 100 Merit Points
  • Assistant Instructor in 20+ classes
    • Minimum of 1 class as 'head' instructor (with guidance from Master Instructor)

 

Must petition to test at least 3 months before testing
